Privacy Policy for Real Scrolling Screenshot
Last updated: September 2026
Real Scrolling Screenshot ("the extension", "we", "us") is a Chrome browser extension that lets you capture a specific area of a webpage across multiple scroll positions and stitches those captures into a single image. This policy explains what data the extension handles, how it is stored, and what control you have over it.
This policy describes exactly what the extension does today. If that changes, we will update this policy first — see "Future changes" below.
What data the extension collects
The extension does not collect any data in the usual sense. When you select
an area and capture it, the screenshot images exist only in your browser's
memory for the duration of your capture session — they are held there so the
extension can stitch them together when you click Download.
They are never written to disk, to chrome.storage, or to any
server, and they disappear as soon as you close the extension panel or the tab.
We do not collect your identity, your browsing history, analytics about your usage, or any data from pages you have not actively chosen to capture.
How your data is stored
The extension does not use any persistent storage. There is no account, no login, and no remote server. Nothing is transmitted over the internet by the extension, at any point.
Data we never collect
We do not, under any circumstance:
- Sell your data to any third party
- Share your data with advertisers or data brokers
- Use your data for personalized advertising
- Track your browsing activity beyond the page you are actively capturing
- Run any analytics, telemetry, or crash-reporting service
- Load any third-party script or tracking pixel inside the extension
Why the extension requests the permissions it does
| Permission | Why it's needed |
|---|---|
activeTab |
Used only when you click the extension icon or its in-page Capture/Start button, to inject the extension's floating toolbar into the current tab and to capture a screenshot of the tab you are actively working in. No access happens without direct interaction from you. |
scripting |
Used to inject the extension's interface (toolbar and area-selection overlay) into the page, and to read the pixel data of the screenshots you take so the extension can crop them to your selected area and stitch multiple captures into one final image. All of this happens locally in your browser. |
Exporting your capture
When you click Download, the extension generates a single PNG image and saves it directly to your own device through your browser. We never see, receive, or have access to this file, or to anything you captured to produce it.
Your control over your data
- Undo last removes the most recent capture from the current session
- Close discards every capture in the current session immediately
- Closing the tab, or navigating away from the page, clears everything the same way
- There is nothing left to delete afterwards, because nothing is stored beyond that session
Children's privacy
Real Scrolling Screenshot is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.
Future changes
If we ever introduce a feature that changes how data is handled — for example some form of history, presets, or sync — it will be presented as clearly optional, and this policy will be updated first to disclose exactly what would change. You will always be able to use the extension exactly as it works today: fully local, with nothing transmitted anywhere.
Changes to this policy
If we make changes to this policy, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
